I set out to paint a platoon of Russian infantry as quickly as I could, mainly to find some good shortcuts for the boys at school to use. I sprayed them all with an undercoat of Army Painter Skeleton Bone primer, which then provided the base uniform colour. Then I just did helments, boots, flesh, webbing, weapons etc, gave them a brush over of my ersatz 'dip' and hit them with matt varnish.What do you think of the uniform colour? Too brown? Too light?
I used my standard irregular BGK basing method, but for something different arranged the squads as though they are moving up to the front line
Nice work! I like your basing and the uniform colour too. Which colour have you chosen? I also want to 'dip' my Russians.
ReplyDeleteHi Thomas - the uniform colour is Army Painter Skeleton Bone primer. It looks too pale when you spray the figures, but seems to turn out ok once you put a brown wash or dip over them.

DeleteI really like these. Are the bases, sabot bases or can they only be in a line ahead formation?
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! They can only be in this formation, which shouldn't really matter in Battle Group Kursk. My plan is to paint different platoons either moving up in line, or abreast, or in a firing line. If I do enough I will be able to swap squad bases during a game to show the units in the most appropriate formations!

ReplyDeleteHi Alejandro. I sprayed them with Army Painter 'Skeleton Bone', which is much too light, but then finish them with acrylic woodstain (like the Army Painter dip).
