I've just finished these boyos - two points worth of mounted hearthguard for my Welsh Saga warband. I just love these figures from West Wind - great detail, loads of character and the separate head system allows lots of variety. Looking forward to trying them out in a game and seeing if their mobility and ability to annoy the enemy with javelins compensates for their extreme vulnerability to missile weapons.
Wonderful! You don't see much Dark Ages cavalry on the table. I converted some plastic Gauls for the purpose and make up 6 Light Cav, 6 mounted Saxon Warriors and a Saxon Lord. They became the real bane of the Viking existence and having them show up really gave the raiders some impetus to take their ill gotten loot and scarper!
very nice figures - i have to remember the westwind-company if i buy dark age miniatures in the future! the shields are nice too - especially your shieldpainting-tutorial. for vikings i have made a shield-tutorial too - a short one compare to yours :-) - http://wuerfelsindgefallen.blogspot.com/2012/04/tutorial-wikinger-schildbemalung-teil-2.html

ReplyDeleteExcellent paintwork. Might have to give Westwind a look in the future as they are nice figures
ReplyDeleteVery nice figures!! Excellent painting!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! How do the Westwind figures size with Gripping Beast or Crusader Dark Ages?
ReplyDeleteThey match perfectly with Gripping Beast. Crusader look a little stockier, but again there are no problems with mixing them.
