Brushes Down!

Well, Curt's painting challenge has come to an end, and what a ride it has been. I've really enjoyed the pressure of trying to get entries finished. I think I had hopes that the challenge might help me reduce my lead mountain, but predictably I've bought more new figures over the past 3 months than I've painted, so the mountain grows.

Overall I seem to have come 13th, unless there are any final score adjustments, with a score of 1349. I'm pretty pleased with this, and it gives me the goal of trying to finish in the top 10 next year!

But really the score isn't the point. The great thing has been to be part of a truly international, fun endeavour in which people from all around the world get to show off their amazing painting skills and imagination in a very friendly an encouraging environment. I've particularly enjoyed the side challenge I've had running with Paul and James. The banter with Paul has been great, and I look forward to meeting James one day!

I've painted a lot over the past three months, and certainly think my skills in some areas have improved a bit. The big casualty, apart from sanity, has been my attention to the blog, so hopefully I'll be posting much more regularly from now on.

For now, I'd like to congratulate everyone who took part in the challenge for your virtual company, and most of all I'd like to thank Curt for the truly Herculean effort he has put in to running the challenge. You Sir are a legend!

  1. Great effort Alan, 13th is a fine ending but as you said watching the fine skills on display was what it was all about. I do look forward to reading more on the blog. But now that you mention it maybe I should paint more and stop reading so many blogs, ........na let's do both.

  5. Thanks for inviting me into this particular den of insanity my friend. I found it most invigorating after most of the year deployed overseas. Well done on the side challenge win, though I still think James and I should get bonus points for extra degrees of difficulty :-)
